ABOUT WATERIDGE VILLAGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Eugène Martineau Park Ice Rink
The rink is:
CLOSED
Located in Eugène Martineau Park, the skating rink provides a winter recreational opportunity for Wateridge residents. The boarded rink measures approximately 50m x 20m (165 feet x 65 feet). The boards are hockey style with chain link fence screening above the boards at each end. The rink is also equipped with with excellent overhead lighting for evening play and skating. Hockey nets are available at the rink. There is an adjacent parking lot that is also lit. There are also benches for putting on skates.
We will be posting a schedule soon and also put signs around the rink. The schedule will include times for kids/free skate (no hockey during those times).

The rink is available 6 am to 9 pm. Please keep in mind nightly maintenance is ideal to preserve rink quality, so please allow volunteers to flood the rink when they come to do so.
Also, we kindly ask that people keep dogs out of the rink area. Dog pee will ruin the ice surface.
Happy skating!
HOW TO
Rink Lighting
The rink lights are controlled by a button located on the side of the electrical box near the park bunker, just east of the rink. The button is located under a weather resistant door that simply lifts open. Simply press the button to turn the lights on. They turn off automatically at 11 PM.

VOLUNTEER
Ice Maintenance
The ice maintenance is conducted by a team of volunteers overseen by the Wateridge Village Community Association. This team is made up of a combination of regular volunteers conducting routine tasks like flooding as well as other casual members who pitch in when regular volunteers are unavailable or respond to “call-outs” after snow storms for help clearing the ice surface. We need more volunteers so please consider pitching in if you can.
Our rink is equipped with a heated “bunker”, a stand-pipe, a fire hose and shovels. With these tools, we make ice!
