Ensuring Our Neighbourhood is Accessible to All
Through neighbourhood accessibility walks, the Wateridge Villlage Community Assocication Planning and Development Committee has been able to provide feedback to ensure the neighbourhood can be navigated for all.
An example of this was accessing bus stops on the east side of Wanaki Road. A curb at the side of the road is not merely a step but a full barrier to accessing bus stops when using devices such as wheelchairs, walkers or even strollers or pull carts.
Proper crossing and bus stops also include features such as tactile strips in plates.

Other accessibility feedback has included accessibility around areas under construction or switchback pathway designs in areas where slopes are too steep. These measures not only improves accessibility but can also make a hill climbable on a bike or create a way of getting a hand truck or dolly with a heavy delivery up a curb. Accessibility is a win for all.
